At McVeigh we offer bespoke packages for the self-builder. We can offer SIPs and Timber Frame to mix and match to the best solutions for you. The main advantages for our self-build clients is speed. The superstructure can be completed very quickly within the construction period….but also by completing the timber/ sip superstructure this releases the internal fit out and external works to be carried in tandem yet again saving time and money.
Timber Frame Option
The Timber frame option offers an economical solution and may self-builders like this choice of construction as it is quick and simple. The timber frame wall panels are mostly manageable by a small installation crew without the need for any mechanical handling. The choice of insulation is really flexible depending on the performance requirements, insulation zone available and environmental considerations.
The SIP option provides a simple solution with a single application, you get the structure, insulation and air tightness in a one. The composite action of a SIP means we get an incredibly strong element with a small fraction of timber and this is great for minimising thermal bridging. For projects that are including habitable space within the roof, SIPs can clean span between the ridge and purlins giving an open plan space and highly insulated building envelope.
At McVeigh we are a Kingspan Tek delivery partner and this gives our Self-Build Clients the assurance that they are using the industry leading SIP system that comes with all the necessary testing and accreditations. Its also recognised by most of the warranty and mortgage providers. Further information is available at our download sections that Tek have prepared specially for the Self Build market.
