SIPs for Schools & Educational buildings

Get in touch

Many Schools across Manchester and the North West are now using SIPs as part of their low carbon efficiency building policy. At McVeigh we have developed a system that supports the creation of comfortable learning environments.

SIP Panel Systems for Schools

Schools and educational institutions have a vital role to play in fostering a sustainable future. The fabric first approach to construction offers a powerful tool to achieve this goal, and Kingspan TEK Building System panels can be a valuable asset in this strategy.

At McVeigh we have developed a SIP system that suits the construction of Schools and Classroom extensions. We use a combination of all the products we manufacture to create these teaching spaces quickly, often a key aspect of these developments. Our build system supports the creation of comfortable learning environments using energy efficient materials to help tackle climate change.

Why are SIPs used in School construction?

Create sustainable learning environments
Due to the material’s technology SIPs lower energy use
Peace of mind when choosing this sustainable building solutions
SIPs are better for learning environments

A fabric first approach prioritises a building’s envelope – walls, roof, windows, and doors – to minimise energy use. This translates to quieter, more comfortable classrooms with consistent temperatures, all of which contribute to a better learning environment for students. Reduced energy consumption also lowers operational costs, freeing up valuable resources for schools.

Use SIPs for Schools and Classroom Extensions

The build system uses highly insulated Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) for the external walls, combining structure, insulation and airtightness in a single system.

Internal walls are formed using timber studs, providing a cost effective solution with built in service zones and straightforward acoustic performance using Robust Details. Ground floors are typically concrete, although timber floor systems can also be specified where required.

Mid floors can be constructed using timber joists or precast concrete planks, both providing strong acoustic performance. Roofs are built using our roof cassette system, designed to create large clear spans ideal for classroom environments.

Why use SIP panelling for School builds?

SIPs Lower Energy Use

This results in significantly lower energy use for heating and cooling classrooms, libraries and communal spaces, helping reduce operational costs and environmental impact.

Compliance and Peace of Mind

Kingspan TEK Building Systems are BBA certified and recognised by major building warranty providers, providing confidence in performance and compliance with current building regulations.

Fabric first prioritises the “shell”

Our fabric first approach focuses on creating a high performance building envelope through the careful design of walls, roofs, windows, doors and floors to minimise heat loss in winter and overheating in summer.
